A historic home in Avoca was
destroyed by fire on March 23, 2025.
Many people from Avoca and neighboring towns say that
when they pass by the home, they admire the beauty of Dr. Lewis C. Druffner, Sr.
home.
Dr. Druffner Sr. purchased the
property in 1930 from Dr. George Seamans family.
(See a little info on him.

After tearing the house down that was on the property, he had the home
built that we love and remember. Mr. Dommermuth was the builder
of the house and one thing that was requested about the house,
by the future Mrs. Druffner, there were lots of windows.
The house then became a home after their marriage in 1932.
In the year 2000, the home was
sold out of the family and Michele purchased it.
Although she cleaned the yard up by removing a lot of the vegetation
around the house and property, it still was impressive and beautiful home.
It’s with deep sorrow to say, Michele and her beloved pet never escaped the fire
alive.
She will be greatly missed all the know her.
It has been determined the fire was an accident, but the cause is still not
known.
We would also
like to thank all Emergency Responders for there
fast response, tireless work and devotion to the community.
